Yeray Alvarez is a Spanish professional footballer who currently plays as a centre-back for Athletic Bilbao and the Spanish national team. He was born on January 24, 1995, in Barakaldo, Spain.
Yeray began his youth career at Antiguoko before moving to Athletic Bilbao's youth academy in 2007. He debuted for the club's B team in 2013 and made his first-team debut in December 2016. Throughout his career, he has been praised for his technical and physical abilities on the pitch, and his ability to read the game.
In 2017, Yeray had to undergo an operation to remove a tumor in his testicle. After recovering from the surgery, he continued to play for his club and made a comeback to the Spanish national team in 2019.
Yeray has won the Spanish Super Cup with Athletic Bilbao in 2021 and has been included in the La Liga Team of the Season twice. He is considered as one of the best young defenders in Spain and has a bright future ahead of him.
